Mobile money in Tanzania is a mobile phone-based platform providing a wide array of financial services to a significant portion of the Tanzanian population.

How it Works?

  • Users register for mobile money services with their mobile phone numbers through providers like M-Pesa, Airtel Money, and Tigo Pesa.
  • They can deposit and withdraw cash at a widespread network of mobile money agents.
  • The system enables instant sending and receiving of money between users.
  • It facilitates various transactions such as bill payments, airtime purchases, and access to other financial products like savings, loans, and insurance.
